Thoroughbred Pedigree Consultants has been formed so that we can help you to greatly increase your chances of breeding and selecting top class winning thoroughbred racehorses.

We have developed a method of determining a horse’s prepotency or potential racing ability using the linebreeding principles developed by Harold Hampton. Our method is not a mere matching of names close up in the pedigree, nor is it any form of "nicking". This is an indepth, comprehensive analysis of the whole pedigree.

We also include seven generation pedigree printouts with the linebreeding highlighted. We mention the racing ability of any progeny or close relatives of the subject horse where it is relevant, but we do not write detailed family histories.

The following is a list our pedigree services.

• Stallion pedigree analysis and mating recommendations. Our approach is to recommend specific mares and also the particular families that would best suit your stallion. The best and most consistent results are obtained from analysis of the whole of the mare’s pedigree including the damline for proposed matings. Price negotiable.

• Broodmare selections. We can help you to select the best available broodmare for any stallion that you name. Price negotiable depending on the value of the mare, and the number of pedigrees analysed. Minimum charge NZD $300, USD $200.

• Broodmare pedigree analysis and recommended stallions. NZD $300, USD $200 per mare, discounted to NZD $250, USD $150 per mare for five mares or more.

• Weanling and yearling sales catalogue analysis. Send us a list of the lots you are interested in and we will give you brief comments, a rating for each horse based on our analysis of its pedigree and a seven generation tabulated pedigree. NZD $100, USD $70 per pedigree requested, with discounts for multiple orders.

• Racehorse pedigree analysis. In-depth pedigree analysis and comments on the racing potential of this pedigree. NZD $200, USD $150 per pedigree.

We believe that the first step towards developing a racehorse is to ensure that the parents of the horse have compatible, well-matched pedigrees. This will give the foal the potential to be born with the genetic combinations necessary for racing ability.

To actually develop the horse to reach its genetic potential you will need to ensure that it is correctly feed, handled and trained.

However, even the very best feeding, handling and training will not allow a horse to exceed its genetic potential.
